Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to upgrade if I’m not selling my home?
No, upgrades aren’t required unless you’re selling, but making changes now can improve comfort, air quality, and reduce long-term costs.
Who needs to comply with BESO, and when?
Homeowners must comply at the time of sale. Starting Jan 1, 2026, 1–4 unit homes must also complete required energy upgrades. Larger buildings follow separate timelines and requirements.
How do these upgrades improve indoor air quality?
Switching from gas to electric appliances eliminates indoor combustion, which reduces exposure to harmful pollutants like nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide.
Are there rebates or incentives available for upgrades?
Yes! There are local, state, and federal incentives available for heat pumps, insulation, induction stoves, and more. We’ll show you how to find and apply for them.
